Our motivation
Modern societies consume huge amounts of fossil fuels to cover their energy demands, leading to the exhaustion of the planet’s reserves and to the accelerating climate change...
The potential of the Greek seas
The potential of the Greek seas We elaborate on the potential of the Greek seas regarding to the development of wave energy facilities...
A solution adapted (not only) to the Greek seas
Based on the aforementioned information about Greek seas, we introduce a structure customized to adapt to the local wave...
Welcome to Wave2Energy
Zero emission electricity from the sea
A core characteristic of the proposed energy harvesting facility is its environmental footprint. The facility operates without producing any kind of emissions of e.g., greenhouse gases. The construction of the facility will consist of recyclable materials...

Development of the structure and its individual elements: experiments of wave energy utilization systems in real conditions with the aim of selecting those structural and functional elements characteristics that will give the maximum and optimal possible result, whether it concerns production and electricity consumption or energy use for bioremediation techniques.
WP2
Construction of a demonstration structure: data gathering for different weather conditions, wave forms and optimum mode transmission of electricity. These data will allow to draw efficient results about the optimal utilization system of the technology and they will support the analysis for the economic benefit (WP5), the risk (WP6) and the environmental footprint (WP6). The results of all these WPs will determine the probability as well commercial exploitation of this technology.
WP3
System integration and pilot testing: The construction of a demonstration unit that will be able to supply air pumps with the necessary energy (mechanical or generated electrical), so that they in turn air supply to the seabed, activating bioremediation mechanisms.
WP4
Development of Operation Control and Monitoring Software: The development of software to control the operation of the two units (power generation and bioremediation) that will be designed, built and put into operation within its framework specific research proposal. This software will allow remote monitoring and control of systems operation, automatic activation of a protection mechanism (immersion) in case of extreme weather conditions, performance assessment, and notification of malfunctions. Also, a unit design /dimensioning software will be developed based on the characteristics of the waves and the needs of power generation or the needs of bioremediation of the seabed.
WP5
Final Technical Specifications and Finances Unit Operating Parameters: Four are the main objects of this particular WP: a) the design and costing of a complete unit, b) the assessment of the viability of the proposed production process, through different production scenarios.
WP6
Risk Assessment, Environmental Assessment and Profit and Loss Statement: The object of this WP refers to the actions to be done to eliminate any risk from placing wave energy utilization systems at sea and the real environmental benefit. With these determined as well as the economic data of WP5, it is possible to search for the best way of commercial exploitation of the results of the project.
